Product Description

Banlangen (commonly used aliases: indigo root, blue indigo root, Daqing root) is a traditional Chinese medicine. It is the dried root of the cruciferous plant Isatis indigo; or the rhizome and root of the acanthaceae plant Malan; or the dry root of Cao Daqing; or the cruciferous plant Isatis tinctoria L., which is elongated and cylindrical , about 10-20-30 cm long and 3-8 mm in diameter. The surface is light gray-yellow, rough, with longitudinal wrinkles and horizontal spots, and root scars. The root head is slightly enlarged, with a dimple at the top, and there are dark green petiole residues around it. The thicker roots are densely verrucous Grey-brown petiole scars arranged in protrusions and whorls. The texture is solid and brittle, the skin of the section is yellowish-white to light brown, and the xylem is yellow. The gas is weak, and the taste is slightly sweet. It is better to have straight, strong, firm and powdery roots.
