Yacon originates from the Andes Mountains of South America and is a traditional root food of the local Indians. In foreign countries, yacon is called Yacon, which means sacred fruit.Yacon is a tropical alpine fruit. The fruit tree looks like a ramie and can grow to 2-3 meters high. When mature, the tops of the branches will bloom one after another. Yacon, also known as chrysanthemum, is called "Wangen Yao" in Sichuan, China. It is a perennial herb of the Asteraceae family and can also be eaten as a fruit.Yacon is particularly adapted to growing on sandy soil between 1000 and 2300m above sea level. It likes light and moist soil.Yacon is native to the Andes Mountains of South America and is grown in Peru, Argentina, China's Yunnan, Taiwan and other places. It has been successfully introduced and cultivated in Yunnan, Fujian, Hainan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Shandong, Sichuan, Henan and Hebei.
Yacon is an underground fruit, rich in more than 20 kinds of amino acids and minerals essential to the human body.The fruit looks like a sweet potato, with thick, juicy and crystal clear flesh, and a delicious taste. The fructooligosaccharide content of yacon is 60-70% of dry matter, which is the highest among all plants.
