Ivy Leaf Extract

Hedera nepalensis (Himalayan ivy, chang chun teng) is a species of perennial Ivy , native to Nepal and Bhutan, as well as India, Myanmar and most area of China, at altitudes of about 1000-3000 m.
Ivy extract contains many active ingredients, the main two are Triterpenoid saponins and Flavonoids. Ivy extract is powderl that is taken from the leaves of the evergreen plant known as ivy. This extract is available in either a capsule or liquid form and it can be found in many types of crèmes and ointments.
Traditional folk medicine used Ivy internally for liver, arthritis and rheumatism. It is mainly used to promote a healthy respiratory system, but it can also be applied to the skin as an antiaging treatment. Now It is most widely used as a natural treatment for respiratory tract congestion. It is a respiratory catarrh used for symptomatic treatment of chronic inflammatory bronchial conditions. The herb contains saponins which appear to be responsible for preventing spasms in the bronchial area.
